What life with Mater may feel like

RASKC's current listing notes: I was brought to RASKC on September 12, 2026 when I was found in a vehicle being towed away. I was quite fearful at first, but have come out of my shell a lot! I went into a wonderful foster home for a little weekend get away and this is what they had to say about me, "Meet Mater! Shelter staff named her after the tow truck in Cars because a tow truck driver discovered her and a cat in an abandoned car that had been parked illegally for multiple days. Despite that, this sweet girl is filled to the brim with love. Mater is a gentle 2.5-year-old Bullboxer (bully boxer mix). Her priorities, in order, include her human, cuddles, sticks, balls, fetch, and chasing her own splashes through a river. She walks calmly on a leash and is very well mannered indoors. She's fully potty trained and knows sit, stay/wait, leave it/drop it, bed, quiet, and kisses. She plays gently with humans and seems to have solid body awareness even when she's excited. She settles down when asked and loves to communicate her feelings with cute head tilts and Chewbacca-esque grumbles. She was found with a cat, so she may be cat friendly, and she loves playing with other dogs. She's fairly submissive overall, sometimes nervous in new situations, and leans into her human for confidence and support. Mater struggled in the shelter, often cowering and shaking, too afraid to engage. Since leaving the shelter, she's started to rebuild her confidence and settle back into herself. This tender-hearted girl will need someone patient and steady to support her as she adjusts to a new environment. She's adjusted to my home fairly quickly these last few days, blossoming a bit more each day! If you'd like to meet Mater, fill out a meet and greet request on the RASKC website, linked in my bio, or email me at bamspittiepitstop@gmail.com" I am a gentle and loving dog who likes to take things slow. I may get nervous in new situations, so I am looking for a family who understands that I might take some time to warm up. Once I get to know you, I will be a very devoted friend!
